This year, we invited two artists, Kerry James Marshall and Jordan Casteel, to make paintings for our September covers. Both artists were given complete freedom to decide who would be on their cover, a real or imaginary person, and how that person would be portrayed.

Read about the making of and the meaning behind our September covers, which are part of our global reflection on #VogueHope: here.

Introducing Simone Biles’s exclusive digital cover for our August issue: http://vogue.cm/jM1WQCt.

With the 2020 Olympics postponed and a shadow hung over American gymnastics, Biles–who is widely regarded as the greatest gymnast of all time—has had to be resilient as never before.

When Biles was first photographed in February and interviewed in March for this cover story, America was also a different place. Since then, the coronavirus pandemic has upended regular patterns of life and #BlackLivesMatter protests have occurred from coast to coast. “We need justice for the Black community. With the peaceful protests it’s the start of change, but it’s sad that it took all of this for people to listen,” Biles said. “Racism and injustice have existed for years with the Black community.”

Here, Vogue reports on a champion looking ahead: READ MORE.

Introducing our special June/July issue of Vogue, which features on its cover an unpublished (and breathtaking) photograph—Rose ‘Colour Wonder,’ 1970—by Irving Penn. “I don’t think I am alone in wishing for a little bit of hope right now,” Anna Wintour writes in her editor’s letter. “It’s a brave act to optimistically consider the future—but that’s the kind of bravery we need now more than ever.”

See our June/July portfolio, #VoguePostcardsfromHome—which was commissioned, designed, and produced entirely remotely–as well as read Wintour’s full editor’s letter: here.
